trips to see family and other updates

on the weekends of oct. 1st and oct. 15th we went to see our family in knoxville and nashville respectively. it was good times and we realized we hadn't been to the nashville area in over a year. the drives were not too bad and much better than the wretched 8 hour trek from dc to knoxville. the weekends themselves were pretty uneventful besides seeing and relaxing with family.

this week has been a little more eventful. jake started back to daycare on monday because on tuesday lindsay started her new job! she jobsearched for nearly a month, but got a callback from an orthodontists' office and the pay puts our budget at even (unlike the lawyers' office she interviewed with). the benefits are good and the office atmosphere seems really good.

on tragic/scary/miraculous/getting better note, i have a 5 year old cousin who got run over / hit by a truck going 54 mph about 2.5 weeks ago. he was unconscious for a few days, but amazingly, he is alive and getting better. he took a few steps today with people holding him since he still doesn't have balance and can't hold his head up. after many tests, he does not have any spinal cord damage, but is having lung trouble and can't move much on his left side where he was hit.

school is going well and steady. i have a second paper due in my women class next friday and my doctrine class is just a ton of questions on the reading and discussion about each others' answers.
