stopping to smell the roses, kickball edition

in light of my last entry, this may be an irregularly running post topic.

when i got home from work and picking up jake from preschool, it was 55 degrees and beautiful just 2-3 days removed from snow everywhere. i decided that even though there were a pile of dishes calling my name that we should play some kick(the)ball. we went back and forth across the backyard for about 30 minutes until it started getting dark (it's nice to have just a bit of light again!). through it all i soaked up the sound of the wind, the color of the sunset, the chill in the air, and my son's laughter and delight at kicking the ball. it was nice.
