something's gotta give

and lately it's been this. that's not intentional, it's just that this has fallen a bit on the wayside. however, today in speech class we were assigned to write a short piece (basically just creative writing) that utilizes a list of 'principles of good writing.' i tried to do it, writing in a present active voice that was simply not my own. all my sentences were starting with 'the' and sounded like something in a 'fun with dick and jane' reader. can't writing be too simplistic? i didn't like it and i'm going to try taking one of my blog posts and editing it with these principles. we'll see what happens...
