buh bye netflix

after growing weary of ongoing slow deliveries (and reports and admissions from netflix that they throttle over-active users), we're kicking netflix to the curb. we've signed on with blockbuster total access for the exact same service for the exact same price with the following wonderful bonuses:

  • we can return movies directly to a brick and mortar store in exchange for a free rental. at this time the computer system automagically sets the wheels in motion to send us the next movie in our queue

  • it seems to take one day to mail to and from blockbuster's distribution center in louisville (netflix took 2+ days)

Interesting crosstalk on The Onion about the Blockbuster/Netflix divide...http://www.avclub.com/content/feature/crosstalk_is_the_blockbuster

Long story short, you'll be back!

that website is blocked at work, but i'll check it out from home. the ability to get a free movie from the brick and mortar store while i wait on my next one from the online service is just so incredibly huge that i can't see why i'd want to come back to the slower delivery times at netflix. it's way worse here in kentucky. in woodbridge, i'd send it in on monday, get an e.mail on tuesday, and get a new movie on wednesday. that is fine with me. it takes 2 or more times as long here.

anywho, as for websites, have you seen this one: http://www.hackingnetflix.com/ ? it keeps track of netflix crap apparently.
