good news, bad news

2009 sure will be interesting ... !

so, good news first: we are expecting our second child around november 1st!! lindsay is around 7 weeks along and we go to the dr. tomorrow for an ultrasound to hear the heartbeat :-D
L is feeling good (besides being very tired) and has only had a couple bouts of nausea.

bad news second: i got laid off last friday. the guy sitting next to me at work got laid off two months ago and this was basically more of the same. yeah, it stinks, but with unemployment we'll be fine for a little while. in the meantime, it feels like the entire world is in front of us. too many options at the moment (not that any has been officially offered). there's a teaching program in nashville and a similar set up in ky. there's the same ol' engineering and tech jobs all over the place (though not very many). there are a few churches all over the country. you get the picture. priority #1 is supporting our family. but i don't feel that will be at the expense of my pastoral calling. the Lord will work it all out, but for right now i'm clueless about the road ahead.

interesting news third: ok, honestly, i did _not_ do this 'eating on a dollar per day' thing as a diet or to save money. however, obviously, both happened. i started roughly 6 weeks ago with a $41 trip to aldi's and i've spent maybe $15-20 since. my portion of the grocery budget over that time is probably $200 and that doesn't count going out to eat. so, roughly $150 saved?
i finally hooked up wii fit this week and i've lost over 20 pounds during lent (our scale hadn't been working so i've been clueless). holy cow! i'm a few pounds lighter than our wedding day (roughly the lowest i've been during marriage). yes, i've been taking vitamins and eating healthily - just smaller portions. i'm excited to start exercising more as i intake more after easter.

Yea, boo, and yea! Congrats on the baby (finally! :), sorry to hear about your job, and very cool on the dollar-a-day thing. I've started figuring up (roughly) how much each dinner is costing us as a whole - still spending more than I'd like, but compared to eating out ... The Wii Fit is really cool, my mom has one and I play with it every time we're up visiting. Somehow, it never feels like working out, just playing. Enjoy!

CONGRATS on the baby!!! I saw the messages on facebook but I didn't want to be the one who was fooled. Scott, you can't announce big stuff on April Fool's Day :)

I'm very sorry to hear about your job. I think you are taking it well and seeing that it's an opportunity for a new direction. You should definitely explore your other talents!

Also, good job on the weight loss. I've been doing daily plate for about a year and have lost 15 pounds. It's amazing how portion control makes a HUGE difference. BRAVO!

Take care and give out some hugs for me!

Congrats! Boo. Yea. :) I think my friend who also worked at your former employer also got laid off (or at least left the company this month). I'm so sorry to hear that, but happy to hear of your growing family. So conflicted! :)
