curio(us)...

so the curio cabinet we got mrs. McCollins for Christmas finally came yesterday and ended up being a part of valentine's as well. the easiest way for me to show it to you is for you to see the top half, the bottom half, and a close up of our discontinued china.

ahh love is in the air!

happy valentine's day to all you lovers out there and have a good weekend to all you lonely hearts out there. i apologize for yet another 5 day layoff, but it's been a pretty normal week. my sources say the readers enjoy more frequent posts over less frequent behemoth posts as seen below. what do you think? send in your comments and questions into "ask McCollins" and if i get any substantive responses, i'll be able to open a reader response question and answer page!
so as for this week, work was slow and i taught a long but interesting Bible study on wednesday. the big highlight of the week was that school started back up and looks to be less stressful/work-filled this semester than last. i'm taking second semester greek and philosophy of religion and both look to be interesting. today me and the mrs. have both had the day off and we'll be heading out to red lobster this evening with some type of movie following.

busy fun weekend

well well well it's been a fun weekend. friday nite we had dinner at mr. j's with the normal crew and then went and had some cosmic bowlin fun! the place was kind of weird tho - it was almost a club with 3 long bars along the wall opposite the lanes and everyone looked trendy and like i said it was cosmic bowling so the lights are going etc. then when we started to play, the balls weren't marked by poundage, but ranged from x-small to x-large and even the x-large was too light (but the finger holes were nice and big) and i felt like i was just slingin it down the lane. and speaking of the lanes, they seemed a little narrower (to get more lanes in?) and were very fast (greasy?) so if you barely angled the ball it swept right off into the gutter. however in the end, mrs. McCollins had her best game ever and the rest of us were sub-par since the experience was so much different than normal (no excuses no excuses!).
well, saturday we finally got to sleep in and then we headed south with some friends to an interesting little restaurant called red robin that we don't have back in tn. it's like a normal bar and grill, but they have like 19 types of burgers and refillable fries (!!). after that one of our friends had to pick something up for a friend at ikea and it was a madhouse!! then we got back to our place and we spent the rest of the afternoon with an old high school friend who just moved into town!! she ventured to red robin as well and we had a fun time just hangin out at her new pad in dc. after that, me and mrs. McCollins went on a date in dc (yes you can still do that after you get married!!) at espnzone (i promise i didn't pick it! what a wife!) it was an absolute blast for a sports fan. i wish i could've stayed longer and watched the dunk contest on the 3rd floor on the huge screen surrounded by 12 different sports feeds. speaking of the dunk contest, i thought it was really great, but they should've reverted to 3 dunks for the score at least in the finals. church was good this morning and mrs. McCollins and i helped lead the music and i assisted in Holy Communion (hey i gotta do somethin for them to call me the associate pastor ;-) ). well, i hope you had an eventful weekend, we're off to play some games with church friends (yep the same group from friday and saturday but it's ok cause they're cool kids haha).

7-11 go-go taquitos

so i can't believe i've never talked about 7-11 go-go taquitos! i got off work a little early today since it's my 8 hour day (i work 9 hours a day now and that gives me every other friday off) and mrs. McCollins picked me up and on our way home we decided it was time for a snack. so what better snack than 7-11 taquitos?! i mean they're only a buck and they're very tasty and can even be pretty meaty. in price-taste-value comparison, i'd say it beats wendy's chicken nuggets for a buck hands down. 7-11 is an interesting store because they don't always have gas pumps, but sometimes appear as just little markets. have you heard of a slurpee? did you know that 7-11 is the place to get actual slurpees?? mmm... what a great junk food meal - taquitos and a slurpee =))

tv, workout, snow, sports

yeah i know i haven't written anything in a few days, but i didn't have much to talk about. well, i could mention that i'm glad mean melissa is gone from j.mill but i bet he picks queen of the bushes sarah over sweet zora who still hasn't opened up much. i was semi-pleased with the american idol results in that i think the top 3 passed through, but america's crazy for kimberly not getting automatically through. no worries, she'll easily walk through the wildcard round. i haven't been keeping up with the bachelorette enough, but that russ guy seemed shady ever since he showed up with a tiffany's box and bought his way through the first round. ok so do i only talk about tv? well, i guess that's all we do in the evenings until school (yikes! monday!). well, Bible study was really good again and workouts on monday and thursday have been going well. i'm benching 185 after struggling to lift 100 less than 6 months ago. one of my partners actually busted out a couple at 2 plates (225)! go mr. j! oh yeah i totally forgot what precipitated me even writing - there's 7 inches of snow outside!! now don't think that it snows like this all the time up here. it's an uncanny winter and they're actually almost out of state budgetted snowy road cleanup money. well, i don't get up for nhl much besides keeping up with the standings, playoff race, and how the preds and caps are doing so last weekend's all-star game kind of buzzed by me (besides that youngster scoring all those goals), but i'm up and ready for the nba all-star game. so what's up with it being on tnt instead of a major national station? did you know the wnba all-star game is gonna be on abc? the nba game will probably have more viewers even on tnt than the wnba game. that's not sexist, that's economics. how silly. and what's up with the major dunkers not being in the dunk competition? ok i know carter isn't feeling great (should he be starting??), but everyone still looks forward to the dunk competition the most (espn poll) and wouldn't it really revitalize it if we had vc vs. kobe ala mj vs. 'nique? maybe lebron will take it on his shoulders (along with all the crap and grief from ohssa) and blow us away next year. one can only hope. well, i hope this feeds your sMc appetite a bit. hopefully something interesting or exciting will happen tonite or tmrw and there'll be another post ;-) hey it is the weekend you know! =)

wasting time...

well, the python training didn't go so well. i understand the language and could write programs and forms etc. if only they would run. i don't have some paths or permissions or something set up right. if you have any suggestions, please offer them. in other news, friday was interesting. after i met mrs. McCollins for lunch, i went to the apple (mac) store because i had wanted to for a while. however, i didn't go to the one i had been planning on that was located next to a two-story barnes and noble in which i had planned to also spend a couple of hours. instead, i found out that there was an apple store in the mall near mrs. McCollins' work and a b&n there as well. so after i spent about 30 minutes in the apple store (i mean they have what like 10 products plus software?), i went to the b&n only it was a b&n owned b. dalton bookstore that was incredibly small and didn't have much of anything that i cared to peruse. still, somehow i managed to piddle for an hour in there before going back to pick up mrs. McCollins for work. so - moral of the story? just go to a big barnes and noble to kill time. saturday was a good day of rest and catch up for housework and groceries, etc. today, Church was good and we had a tasty central/south american dinner afterwards. now to look at some work stuff before hanging with friends again. long week of work will be here any minute.. eek!
