whatchya been up to?
well, i've been working long hours and then spending the evening working on hw until even later hours and then getting about 4.5-5 hours sleep before getting up to feed my wonderful son jake and starting all over :-)
summer semester is not as bad as spring semester, but church history has a weekly schedule that can be grueling. evangelism is nicer with modules being 2.5-3 weeks long, but the same total amount of work. fun stuff :-)

how does this happen?
every time i go a bit without posting, i then get nervous to post again because i feel like i'll have to recount everything that happened in between and then i delay longer and longer and longer...
but every once in a while something comes a long that spurs you to write. i don't buy into the conspiracy theory that bush planned or knew about 9/11 in order to eventually take over iraq, but this story (also all over the internet) sure is interesting... and we all know bush is just a figurehead for all his staff who actually determine and have substantive thoughts about policy.

back to school
ugh so i hope i'm not back to rarely posting :-) school has been back in session for a week, and you can see to the left what i'm now taking and reading. the summer shouldn't be as rough as the spring was, but i'm also taking a course through the district (just meets one weekend for discussion and final) so i'll have extra reading to do. jake seems to be feeling better, but he might have an ear infection. L is taking him to the dr. today. all the tv shows have finally ended (except real world 14) but now nbc and fox seem to be coming out with some interesting shows for the summer. in the past few weeks we've been able to see 4 movies (3 with sleeping jake haha). it's been nice to realize it's ok to take him in because we love watching movies. soon enough though he won't stay asleep and he'll be fussier, but we'll enjoy it while we can! movies and personal ratings to the left.

yikes!
my apologies for the delay, but school started back yesterday and i'm still getting back in the swing of things after the great trip to tn. we flew out after work on friday and got to nashville around 9pm. saturday was L's birthday (happy birthday babe!!) and was also the bash/reunion/family get-together at my uncle's house that doubled as a send-off for my 54 y.o. chaplain uncle who's leaving for training this month and then iraq in november. it was great to see everyone there - it had been quite a while since i'd seen some of them. saturday evening me, L, and jake had dinner at toot's (awesome local place) with my dad and feasted on the fried dill pickle chips (yum! let me know if you know of anywhere else that we can get some - please let me know. after church on sunday, mom, charlie, me, L, and jake trucked (carred?) it up to cookeville for lunch with L's parents and family at spankie's (another awesome local place). we had a great time visiting and they really enjoyed getting to see jake. sunday evening L and i got to go on a real date - just the two of us! we went to see mean girls (really good actually - some parts were wickedly funny - good job tina fey) and then had a bite to eat at o'charley's before going home. monday morning we just rested and lounged and finished packing before leaving for the airport at 1pm. we landed, finally got to our car (crazy little shuttle buses...), and went straight to dinner at red lobster (hey it was basically L's birthday all weekend long...) since we were too zonked to do anything at the house for dinner. we got home and basically did only what we needed to do for the next day before going on to bed. a good weekend all around!
