balance

that might be my new word haha. when anyone asks me "how's it goin' " these days, i usually tell them i'm just trying to get some balance in my life between, school, work, and family. i've got 3 classes this semester and it's been very tough to find time for each thus far. it's getting better as i now understand when things are due weekly and when new things are there for me to respond to, but still... whew! it's pretty crazy.
with work, the end of the federal fiscal year is at the end of september and needless to say, i've got a bit of extra work to get done before next thursday. my days are non-stop as i have to press hard at work, come home for dinner and family time, and then work on hw til 12 or 1 in the morning and get up at 5:15 to start over. i love you starbucks haha
speaking of, i'm finally moving to our new office location on 10/27-10/28 (last day old - first day new) and there's no starbucks. there's another cafe, but it's like breaking up with someone and then trying to start a new relationship. it's awkward and just not the same.

i feel violated!

i just logged on to make a quick post and fix a broken link on one my secret sub-blogs (sshhh!) and i noticed that i had 100 comments on this my main site! i looked at the list and some jerk had posted over 50 comments related to free online poker! yargh! i've mentioned poker less than 5 times on this site! the worst is that they left a name "texas hold'em" or some junk and an e.mail and a url (to their free poker site ugh) so there was no real way to prevent it in the first place. oh well. it's all clear for now...

haircut and tivo

well, for those calling me a hippie in the comments below, they'll be glad to know i got a haircut :-) pictures coming soon (yeah yeah and the beach too)

me and tivo had a good evening last nite. when we got home, i had to go turn some hw in so L started watching her episode of dr. phil and she put the burgers and dogs on the grill (yummy simple dinner). i came down while it was still on and watched most of it. 7th heaven was and has been good examples of pastoral work and i realized dr. phil actually is a pretty good counselor. he was talking to a whole town (the focus of this season is with one town that has a ton of problems and the emphasis is that these problems are everywhere as well). he was saying great stuff that clergy should be bold enough to say. well, speaking of 7th heaven, we watched that after dr. phil was over, but it had already started so we got to watch it without commercials. after that was over i went back and watched jeopardy! which was on while we watched dr. phil. haha! total control over viewing lol. then i watched a couple of other things real quick that i had saved. we went on upstairs at 10 and i worked on hw til 12 as usual. i'm still trying to get in a good routine for these three classes, but it's all still fresh and exciting.

back from vacay, but...

yeah yeah i know i should've posted monday or tuesday, but even though we had a wonderfully relaxing vacation in virginia beach, it's been like a whirlwind here since we got back. on monday as we got home, i got a new router which has both my mac and pc on the internet (now if they could only "see" one another... the mac saw the pc's workgroup so some kind of connection was established at one point or another...), i got one of those cool 256 MB USB flash sticks, and i got a 40 hour tivo box! i set up the router monday afternoon and then we went out to dinner to outback and watched some tv (kenjen is back on jeopardy yay!) so no tivo. tuesday evening i had a board meeting at church, but i was at least able to activate tivo online that nite so that on wednesday evening i was able to set it all up and let it do its initial set up overnite. i'll get it all figured out as i play with it more, but it seems that i have to leave the tivo and cable box on at all times (not sure... help?).

besides the fun best buy purchases, the whirlwind was also empowered by the starting of a new semester. you can see the new course titles in the bar on the left and yes i'm back to three classes. it'll be tough, but i'm really interested in the subjects which also include my first counseling course! (fyi: i'm now planning on also finishing an MA in counseling.) my schoolwork was one of the main reasons i stumped for tivo because now i can theoretically work from 9 to midnite straight without having to really slowdown during a show at 10pm that i really want to watch (speaking of, real world (15): philly actually looks good in that the cast seems to have some semblance of intelligence).

last but not least, tonite is poker nite at my place and i'm excited. at one point it looked like we were gonna have like 13 people, but now it looks like we'll have between 7-10 people.
