associate pastor
it hasn't been announced to the church body yet, but...
the board and paris (ky) church of the nazarene voted on wednesday, 11/12/08, to have me be the associate pastor of the church. and since the board and their family is a large portion of the church, i figure most of the church already knows while we wait for some paperwork processing with the district.
i preached twice yesterday (that makes 6 sermons in the 5 sundays we've been there) and it went really well. we're looking forward to a busy december with advent sermons, a missionary speaker (actually a friend of our family - wanda wiley), a southern gospel singer, a christmas potluck, and our big christmas cantata. good times!
oh, and i made a church website last week. now to expand it!

nous aimons paris!
kentucky, that is.
so, after preaching at paris church of the nazarene for two weeks, we went back this past sunday as regular parishioners (church-goers). the church is nearly an hour away (but closer to my work than our current home), but the church family is so loving and nice. the pastor had me lead service this past sunday and i'm looking forward to more ways to help out.

happy anniversary!
it's already been 6 years. Love you, babe.
we spent the anniversary with a long day of driving up to church in paris, ky (see next post), going out to lunch at the really good mexican restaurant there, sending jake back to the house with stephanie, going to see 'a tuna christmas' at what turned out to be a community theater (it was well worth it), and having a nice dinner at bella notte. it was a great day with my wonderful wife! thanks for being so supportive and loving through all the seminary years and thanks for being so excited and open to whatever the next phase of life is that God has in store for us.

main & maple
this is where i go on saturdays to finish writing sermons. like today.
i've been meaning to write about this, but last month i preached the am & pm services at mt. vernon (ky) on september 7th and 14th. it was a great experience to go through all that sermon prep through the course of the week. last wednesday, i received a phone call asking me to preach the am service in paris (ky). a very friendly church in a cool small town. yesterday, they asked me to preach tomorrow for both the am & pm services.
all of this has just been fill-in pulpit supply work for out of town or ill pastors, but i know the Lord has everything planned out in due time.
